Using eBooks.com’s Campaigns feature, Hachette UK is providing some welcome respite to NHS workers across the UK. Top-selling authors from Hachette’s publishing divisions have contributed works to say thank you to those on the front line.
The campaign, which was the brainchild of top-selling author, Mari Hannah, was immediately embraced by David Shelley, Hachette UK’s CEO. Hannah said, “I’m so grateful to David Shelley for making this happen, my fellow authors for agreeing to participate, and of course to eBooks.com. Reading books is a comfort in such harsh times.”
NHS staff can choose any ebook from a range published by Orion, Little, Brown, Headline, Quercus, Hodder & Stoughton, Hachette Children’s Group, John Murray Press and Octopus Publishing Group.
David Shelley, CEO of Hachette UK, commented, “We owe a massive debt of gratitude to everyone in the NHS who is working on the frontline to keep us safe and this is our way of saying thank you. Reading can provide one of the best distractions when you need a moment of respite and we appreciate books can be difficult to access during the lockdown, so we wanted to play our part in making them more easily available to those who need them most.”
Stephen Cole, eBooks.com’s CEO, said, “This is a lovely way for Hachette and its authors to support people who are giving so much to the community. We’re delighted to play a part.”
